Job Description/Overview:
The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is responsible for conducting thorough assessments of patients’ medical histories, symptoms, and vital signs to determine appropriate care and treatment plans as directed by the physician. The RPN will administer medications, respond to medical emergencies, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ medical histories, symptoms, and vital signs
– Administer medications, injections, vaccinations, and other treatments as prescribed by the physician
– Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide immediate care
– Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient charts, treatment plans, and progress notes
– Collaborate with physicians, NPs, PAs, and other health professionals to ensure continuity of care
– Ensure proper functioning and cleanliness of medical equipment and supplies
– Stay updated on current medical practices, advancements in healthcare technology, and regulatory changes
– Maintain CNO insurance and up-to-date licensure
– Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications needed:
– Two (2) year Community College Diploma in Nursing or Ontario Ministry of Education Equivalencies
– Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario with no restrictions at the time of application
– Valid and current CPR certification
– Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to make rapid, critical decisions under pressure
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interactions and teamwork
– Proficiency in EMR systems and medical documentation
– Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays as per the clinic’s operational schedule
