Role Overview:
MissionWired is seeking a talented and ambitious self-starter with excellent editing and research skills to join their quality assurance freelance team. The Digital Editor will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of content for Democratic political campaigns and world-changing nonprofits.
Responsibilities:
– Edit fundraising and advocacy emails daily for accuracy, syntax, punctuation, grammatical and spelling errors, and typos
– Conduct fact-checking and technical quality assurance on email tests and landing pages, including checking tracking, URLs, rendering, and general functionality
– Ensure emails align with internal and client-specific style guides while retaining a compelling, authentic voice
– Collaborate with client teams, including technology and creative, to manage resources and timelines on projects
Must-Have Qualifications:
– At least one year of experience in an editing-adjacent position or internship
– Ability to work during weekdays, especially during the training period
– Experience using a style guide (AP or otherwise)
– Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and a commitment to perfection
– Ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools
– Ability to review short copy on tight deadlines
– Passion for progressive activism and making the world a better place
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
– Ability to parse policy
– Experience with email and SMS functionality and/or user experience
Additional Information:
– Pay rate for the training period (up to the first 60 hours) will be 75% of the total agreed rate
– Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. Sponsorship for employment visas is not available at this time
– Freelance roles are 1099/Independent Contractors and not eligible for employee benefits
