Job Description/Overview:
We are seeking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic Specialist support worker to join our well-established and innovative learning disabilities inpatient service for Adults. The Specialist Support Worker will be able to deliver elements of health and social care and undertake clinical work in domains that have previously only been within the remit of registered professionals. This post will therefore transcend traditional professional boundaries.
You will be joining a friendly, supportive and creative multi-disciplinary team, dedicated to providing a high-quality service which complements the work done by our wider CTLD colleagues and in liaison/partnership with other care services.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake a range of delegated clinical and administrative duties in learning disability settings
Take on the role of primary nurse under the supervision of the Charge Nurse in line with local quality standards
Contribute to a full range of routine care tasks such as supporting self-care, routine observations and risk assessment once trained and under supervision from a registered professional
Provide and facilitate recreational, social and educational group and individual activities as part of the Ward / hospital wide in-patient programme; following set aims and objectives
Co-facilitate therapeutic groups under the supervision of a registered professional appropriate for the service user group
Engage with and gather information from service users, relatives and patient records to support a multi-disciplinary formulation and care plan
Qualifications needed
Essential
NVQ level 4 in a relevant subject (e.g. Social Care, Health) OR ? Extensive clinical experience and evidence of professional development in the specific work setting the application is being made
Care Certificate (or complete this within a reasonable time fame)
Evidence of a commitment to lifelong learning
