This is a hands-on position working as part of the busy Wellington-based technical team. The primary focus of the Technical Support Technician is largely based around technical phone support with an expectation to also provide some hands-on workshop repairs, incorporating some administrative duties. This role can involve working sole charge, within a small workshop team, and as part of our national support team.
Job Details:
The products predominantly covered are domestic heat pump, dehumidifier, ventilation, and refrigeration products. There is also an expectation to provide repairs and support for commercial and hot water products and commercial VRF systems.
Key Responsibilities:
– Provide technical phone support and hands-on workshop repairs
– Work independently and as part of a team
– Repair and support domestic and commercial HVAC products, including heat pumps, dehumidifiers, ventilation, and refrigeration systems
– Deliver prompt, timely, and professional service
– Create and update service documentation and reports using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
– Maintain a clean driver’s license and adhere to safety and quality standards
Qualifications Needed:
– Trade level qualification in refrigeration and air conditioning or similar
– Current full or limited electrical registration
– Clean driver’s license
– Superior understanding of and experience in air conditioning and refrigeration service techniques and industry standards
Experience:
– Proven experience in HVAC technical support and repair
– Competence in both industry theory and practical fault finding
Skills:
– Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
– Strong multitasking and organizational skills
– Excellent people relationship skills and pleasant customer manner
– Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and achieve objectives
– Ability to adapt and learn from field experiences
– Technical ability to apply both theoretical and practical knowledge to high standards
– Self-reliance and ability to operate successfully in an environment of relative autonomy
– Initiative and achievement orientation
– Effective relationship building with internal and external stakeholders
– Ability to manage confidential information appropriately
