Job Description/Overview:
The North London Partners – Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service is made up of a full MDT: consultant psychiatrists, clinical/counselling psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, family therapist, nursery nurses, peer support workers and pharmacist. MDT sub-teams staff work closely with the maternity sites in North Central London (Barnet Hospital, Royal Free Hospital, North Middlesex University Hospital, University College Hospital and Whittington Hospital). Clinics normally run at team bases, maternity sites, children’s centres, and community centres across the boroughs as well as home visits. Some clinical work is additionally carried out via video call.
Key Responsibilities
The post-holder will work with service users with complex perinatal mental health needs, identifying goals using specialist assessment and intervention tools. They will contribute to the person-centred clinical care offered by the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) by;
-Carrying out home visits
-Running groups, baby massage, weaning etc
-Providing evidence-based interventions focusing on prevention, promotion, and early intervention
-Liaising with colleagues, external stakeholders, service users and their families.
-Ensuring that safe, evidence based, effective, culturally competent care is delivered in a timely manner to service users.
Qualifications needed
- National Nursery Education Board Qualification or equivalent to BTEC (National Diploma in Nursery Nursing / early years).
- NVQ level 3 (childcare and education) or foundation degree in early years, with a least 1 years’ experience.
- Previous experience working in community settings
Experience:
Understanding of the statutory framework for early year’s foundation stage and the EYFS to ensure best practice.
- Experience of working within a multicultural environment.
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
Skills:
- Flexible and responsive approach to mother and baby care.
- Able to prioritise workload and organise time and work to meet deadlines.
- Ability to plan, provide and participate in suitable activities for parents and children
