Job Description/Overview:
As a Nursing Assistant, you will provide basic patient care under the supervision of nursing staff. Your role involves assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, feeding, dressing, and mobility. You will also perform basic medical tasks and support the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care is delivered.
Key Responsibilities:
– Patient Care:
– Assist with personal hygiene tasks (bathing, toileting, dressing).
– Help patients move (e.g., transferring from bed to chair).
– Assist with feeding or eating.
– Ensure comfort by changing linens and maintaining a clean environment.
– Medical Support:
– Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration).
– Report changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
– Assist with basic medical procedures (e.g., urine sample collection).
– Prepare rooms for patient admission and assist with discharge.
– Communication:
– Communicate patient needs to nurses and doctors.
– Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
– Respect patient confidentiality and dignity.
– Record Keeping:
– Document patient care activities.
– Maintain accurate records (input/output logs, vital signs charts).
– Team Support:
– Assist other healthcare professionals as required.
– Support the efficient operation of the healthcare facility.
Qualifications:
– Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program and passing the state’s competency exam (CNA licence).
– High school diploma or GED.
Experience:
Previous healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
Skills:
– Compassionate and patient demeanour.
– Strong communication skills.
– Ability to follow instructions and work within a team.
– Physical stamina (ability to lift patients and stand for long periods).
