Job Description/Overview:
The Outreach Support Worker will assist homeless individuals and other vulnerable groups by providing crisis intervention, rehabilitation plans, and connecting them to community services. The role requires compassion, flexibility, and the ability to handle demanding situations while providing personalised support.
Key Responsibilities:
– Prepare reports or case histories for clients.
– Conduct assessments to identify clients’ skills and development needs.
– Develop and coordinate community service programs, including crisis intervention and rehabilitation plans.
– Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs.
– Accompany clients to appointments and social outings.
– Provide food preparation and administrative support.
– Liaise with social services agencies and healthcare providers.
Qualifications:
– College/CEGEP or equivalent experience.
– Relevant certificates including Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Mental Health First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), Cultural Awareness Training, First Aid, and Food Safety.
Experience:
Experience is an asset, but not mandatory.
Skills:
– Strong interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills.
– Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
– Excellent written and oral communication skills.
– Strong judgement, ethics, and attention to detail.
– Computer skills, including email and MS Office.
