Job Description/Overview:
The University of Glasgow is offering a fully funded Research Assistant/Associate position in Dr. Julia Cordero’s laboratory as part of a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship. The role involves studying metabolic adaptations of intestinal stem cells using Drosophila as the primary model and some translation to mouse models. The successful candidate will also contribute to research publications and proposals while managing aspects of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
– Plan and conduct research in line with project goals
– Document research outputs and maintain records
– Enhance research profile and contribute to high-quality publications
– Present work at conferences and seminars
– Identify funding sources and assist in developing proposals
– Collaborate with team members and mentor students
– Perform administrative tasks and modest teaching activities
– Stay updated on advancements in the field
Qualifications:
– Essential: Honours degree in a relevant subject; specialist knowledge in Drosophila genetics, metabolism, and intestinal biology
– Desirable: PhD in a related field
Pay: £32,332 – £44,263 per year
