Job Description/Overview:
Schnabel Inc., a top engineering and consulting firm, seeks an entry-level Tunnel Engineer to join their Austin office. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in civil, geotechnical, or structural engineering. The position involves supporting the design, investigation, and construction management of tunnel engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
– Apply professional principles and numerical models to solve real-world problems.
– Perform structural and geotechnical design calculations for tunnels and underground structures.
– Assist in preparing CAD drawings and reports.
– Conduct field work including tunnel inspections and material testing.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
– 0-3 years of relevant experience.
– Ability to obtain professional engineering licensure.
– Knowledge in structural design and familiarity with AutoCAD is preferred.
– Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
Experience:
– Relevant experience in geotechnical or structural engineering.
Skills:
– Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with MathCAD, STAAD, SAP, etc., is a plus.
– Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
– Willingness to travel within the US and Canada.
