We are looking for casual Housekeepers to join our cleaning team at the Australian Institute of Sport (Bruce, Canberra). Start ASAP.
Job Description/Overview:
The Housekeeper positions will provide a range of cleaning services within the accommodation facilities in order to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene, and for maintaining a professionally presented and safe environment for our staff and customers.
The shift availability is across a 7-day roster, of which may include evening hours – of which will have the applicable shift loading applied in alignment with the Cleaning Award. Generally hours would be 8am-4pm.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Sanitizing: Clean and sanitize rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas by dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and wiping down surfaces.
Bed Making and Linen Changes: Make beds, change linens, and ensure that all bedding is clean, neat, and properly arranged.
Restocking Supplies: Restock supplies such as towels, toiletries, and cleaning products in guest rooms, bathrooms, and other areas as needed.
Laundry Duties: Wash, dry, fold, and iron linens, towels, and sometimes personal clothing of clients, ensuring items are returned clean and in good condition.
Waste Management: Empty trash bins, replace liners, and dispose of waste according to local regulations and property guidelines.
Organization and Tidying: Organize and tidy up rooms, closets, and storage areas to maintain a clean and clutter-free environment.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and linens, and inform management when items need to be reordered.
Reporting Maintenance Issues: Identify and report any maintenance issues or damages to furniture, appliances, or fixtures that require repair or replacement.
Customer Service: Interact politely and professionally with guests or residents, addressing any requests or concerns they may have regarding cleanliness or other housekeeping services.
Adhering to Safety Protocols: Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Compliance with Health and Hygiene Standards: Ensure that all cleaning tasks are completed in accordance with health and hygiene standards, especially in high-touch or sensitive areas.
Special Requests: Fulfill any special cleaning requests from clients or management, such as deep cleaning tasks, seasonal cleaning, or event preparation.
Time Management: Efficiently manage time to complete cleaning tasks within designated timeframes, ensuring all areas are serviced promptly.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other housekeeping staff and departments to ensure a seamless and efficient service is provided to clients or guests.
Documenting Work: Maintain logs or records of rooms or areas cleaned, any issues encountered, and tasks completed, as required by the employer.
Qualifications needed
- Experience working in a professional housekeeping capacity preferred
- This position requires an individual with the willingness to work flexible hours and an ability to manage their own time to meet deadlines
- Training in the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment is an advantage
- Experience using commercial or industrial cleaning products and equipment preferred
- Proof of right to work in Australia (Passport/Australian Birth Certificate/valid visa)
- Flexible availability to work Monday to Sunday.
- Please Note – You must have or the ability to acquire a valid Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP) & supply a valid National Police History Certificate.
