Opportunity for an experienced Business Development Specialist or seasoned rural focused expert with a passion for advancing agriculture to new heights, in this role you have the opportunity to:
Spearhead industry-leading initiatives, guiding farmers in making sustainable strategic decisions for the best soil and food on earth!

The position will involve negotiation, extensive networking, and this is where having a background in farming is essential. We’re looking for someone who has a solid understanding of farming systems and operations, along with the motivation and ability to leverage from their existing farmer/agricultural relationships and professional networks to build the customer portfolio along across Central South Island
Stretching from the peaks to the plains from Rakaia to Moeraki Boulders, the Business Development Specialist role covers a broad range of territory with flexibility on where the role can be based. Ideally the position will be located in Timaru area, however applications are welcome from anywhere within the region from people with strong networks in their rural districts to help leverage their success in the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Identifying growth opportunities for Ballance’s customer base across the Central South Island region.
- Exploring possibilities through industry connections.
- Empowering and assisting current Nutrient Specialists to expand their markets.
- Support the Leadership of the team to new heights to innovate and grow.
Beyond focusing on new business, you’ll collaborate closely with the Regional Sales Manager to revamp the current growth strategy. We are seeking someone who thrives on challenging the status quo and is committed to continuous improvement.
Qualifications needed
- A background in agriculture with a working knowledge of nutrients and soil health.
- Excellent understanding of farming systems.
- High resilience and commercial acumen.
- Tertiary qualification or sales experience is advantageous.
- Proven negotiation skills.
- A passion for leadership.
- Thrives on high professional standards.
