Twin Lakes Counseling is an insurance-based group psychotherapy practice located in Federal Way, Washington. We are dedicated to providing accessible, transformative mental health counseling and family therapy services to our community. As our team grows, we are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Insurance Verification Specialist to support our busy scheduling team.
Main Responsibilities
- Insurance Verification: Verify client insurance benefits online and by phone.
- Claims Follow-Up: Follow up on denied claims and resubmit when applicable.
- Documentation: Record plan details in client profiles and ensure profiles are billing-ready.
- Client Communication: Send insurance benefit summaries to clients using provided templates.
- Billing Support: Allocate paid amounts within our EHR system based on Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
- Credentialing Support: Assist the Billing Manager with the clinician credentialing process.
- Pre-Authorizations & Referrals: Manage pre-authorizations and direct referrals, ensuring integration into the scheduling process.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the team and provide ongoing support.

- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using online insurance portals, email, Google Sheets, and EHR systems.
- Professionalism: Maintain composure, patience, and confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Remote Work Readiness: Able to work from home with a reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional space.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Prior administrative experience or familiarity with insurance is beneficial.
- Work Schedule: Must be available Monday to Friday during PST business hours, ensuring timely verification within 48 business hours.
- Technology Requirements:
- Mac or PC with the most recent operating system installed.
- High-speed internet access and a computer with a webcam.
- A designated quiet and professional workspace.
Additional Information
- Assessments: All qualified candidates will be required to complete assessments as part of the hiring process.
- Work Environment: This is a remote position, and candidates must have an in-home office setup.
- Mental Health Industry Experience: Preferred but not required.
