Job Description/Overview:
The Practice Receptionist/Admin Clerk will maintain and monitor the practice appointment system while providing essential administrative support in a healthcare environment. The role involves welcoming patients, processing appointments, and ensuring effective communication within the practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system.
Welcome patients and visitors, directing requests appropriately.
Process personal, telephone, and Accurix appointments.
Answer incoming calls, transferring or dealing with requests effectively.
Signpost patients to the correct service following the Care Navigation process.
Initiate and respond to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies.
Photocopy documentation as required.
Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information.
Direct requests for information (e.g., SAR, insurance letters).
Manage queries efficiently.
Perform system searches as requested.
Maintain a clean and tidy working area and waiting room.
Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards.
Support clinical staff with general tasks as requested.
Action incoming mail and correspondence.
Scan patient-related documentation and attach it to healthcare records.
Complete opening and closing procedures as per duty rota.
Qualifications:
Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
Ability to work effectively in a busy healthcare environment.
Experience in administrative roles (preferable).
Experience:
Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role in a healthcare setting is desirable but not essential.
Skills:
Proficient in data entry and handling patient information.
Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
Familiarity with healthcare appointment systems is a plus.
