Job Description/Overview
The Department of Allied Health at the University of Chester is seeking a Researcher to join the functional research group. The department is renowned for offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Human Nutrition, Dietetics, Exercise and Nutrition Science, Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation, and Obesity and Weight Management. Many of the programs are accredited by professional bodies such as the Association for Nutrition and the British Dietetic Association.
The researcher will be working on a project titled ‘NutriNano: a feasibility study on the application of natural and liposomal bioactive ingredients for improved nutrition.’ The project, funded by an Innovate UK grant, aims to produce various foods and supplements with enhanced bioaccessibility and bioavailability of omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (O3LC-PUFAs). The role will involve collaborating with industrial partners on the development of functional foods, focusing on nanoliposome preparation, functional foods development, and sensory evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
– Collaborate with industrial partners to deliver the ‘NutriNano’ project
– Work on the preparation and analysis of nanoliposomes
– Engage in functional foods development and sensory evaluation
– Contribute to problem-solving in specialised areas of nutrition and food technology
Qualifications
– A Master’s Degree in Food Science and Technology, or an equivalent qualification
Experience
– Working experience in nanoliposome preparation and analysis
– Expertise in functional foods development and sensory evaluation
Skills
– Exceptional problem-solving skills, particularly in the area of bioactive ingredients and their application in food science
– Strong research skills in food technology
Position:Full-Time Fixed Term Contract (FTC until 31/08/2025)
