Job Description/Overview:
The Specialist Engineer will deliver specialist engineering activities across all wards and departments within a multidisciplinary environment. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and legal requirements, supporting the development of technicians and apprentices, and managing specialist engineering service contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
– Deliver specialist engineering services (e.g., Medical Gas, Pressure Systems, HV/LV Voltage)
– Support and train in-house team members and apprentices
– Manage key specialist engineering service contracts and audits
– Ensure compliance with statutory and non-statutory responsibilities
– Analyse complex engineering condition reports and manage specialist engineering projects
Qualifications:
– Degree in Engineering/Building Services or HNC/HND Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with significant management experience
– Membership of a Professional Institution (e.g., IHEEM, IEE, IET, I.Mech, CIBSE)
– IOSH Managing Safely
– Recognized training qualification/apprenticeship in Electrical or Mechanical Services
Experience:
– Specialist engineering in installation and maintenance systems
– Supervisory responsibility for staff and contractors in technical disciplines
– Experience in an Authorised Person role (e.g., Medical Gas, High Voltage)
Skills:
– Ability to manage complex and contentious issues
– Strong communication and organisational skills
– Experience with CAFM systems and Healthcare Engineering services
– Ability to work under demanding and stressful scenarios
