Job Description/Overview:  

Cardrona Hotel, an award-winning country hotel nestled in the Southern Alps, is seeking an experienced and adaptable Chef de Partie. This position offers a unique opportunity to live, work, and play in the mountains, with activities like skiing, hiking, biking, and fishing right at your doorstep. The role requires a commitment to the entire summer season, with a start date in October and a minimum commitment until the end of April 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

 

– Oversee the kitchen and service during the senior chef’s absence.

– Ensure the kitchen is prepared to meet daily, function, and special requirements.

– Maintain stock levels, ensuring quality and quantity.

– Ensure dishes are prepared to standard, cooked properly, and delivered on time.

– Follow recipes and instructions carefully.

– Adhere to the Food Control Plan.

– Support subordinate staff to ensure duties are performed correctly.

– Report stock shortfalls and order needs to the Head Chef.

– Perform any other duties as reasonably required by the employer.

 

Qualifications:

 

– Minimum of 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen environment.

– Hospitality, cookery, or culinary qualification (preferred).

– Ability to work quickly and safely.

– Excellent verbal communication skills.

– Experience in Kiwi/western cuisine is essential.

 

Experience:  

– Proven experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

 

Skills:

 

– Strong culinary skills with a broad skill set.

– Ability to manage a kitchen efficiently.

– Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Additional Information:

 

– Accommodation is available for the right candidate.

– Preference will be given to permanent residents or those with at least 6 months remaining on their work visa. Sponsorship may be available to the right candidate.

– This is a permanent, full-time position offering $30 – $35 per hour, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week. Rostered hours include weekends and nights.
