Job Description/Overview:
Apollo is on a mission to make the world’s data more accessible by simplifying the process of building and scaling APIs. As a Lead Product Designer, you’ll shape the tools customers use to manage their graphs, working across various interfaces such as Apollo Studio, Odyssey, Rover, and Sandbox. In this role, you will lead the design team, foster a culture of design thinking, and introduce strategic design methodologies into the PDE (Product, Design, Engineering) culture.
Key Responsibilities:
– Team Leadership: Lead and manage a small design team, fostering a culture of design thinking and supporting career growth.
– Strategic Design Initiatives:Develop a clear vision and strategy for design at Apollo, leading initiatives such as redesigning information architecture and designing user journeys across various interfaces.
– User Research: Conduct studies and gather user research to inform design decisions, staying close to customer needs.
– Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to implement designs, contributing to group strategy and inspiring colleagues across the company.
Qualifications needed:
– Experience managing a design team and supporting designers in their career growth.
– Proficiency in Figma and Atomic Design, with experience building or contributing to design systems.
– Strong skills in HTML and CSS, with the ability to collaborate on implementation with engineers.
– A proven track record of leading complex, strategic design initiatives that deliver business impact.
– Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
– Excitement about working in a dynamic startup environment.
Preferred Skills:
– Experience in visual design and branding.
– UX writing experience.
– Basic coding knowledge is helpful but not required; willingness to learn some code on the job to fully understand the product is essential.
