Job Description/Overview:
This role is focused on supervising a diverse team of external contractors, building and sustaining key relationships with Maori landowners/whanau/hapu/iwi, implementing multi pest operations, and supporting the development of landowner capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of contracts
- Installing and maintaining existing predator trapping networks
- Monitoring pest populations and indigenous biodiversity with a wide range of tools
- Working with external collaborators to achieve biodiversity outcomes
- Collect asset information to support data applications and reporting purposes
- Contribute to the development of annual workplans and detailed site activity plans
Qualifications needed
- A strong understanding and appreciation for the values of tikanga and kawa when working with landowners, whanau/hapu/iwi
- A strong background in contractor management
- Physically fit and capable of working in rugged environments for periods longer than 7 days
- Full, and clean New Zealand driver’s licence
- Strong focus on Health and Safety
- The ability to work both remotely at site and collaboratively with the wider team
Skills:
- Animal pest and weed management; including the ability to monitor pest and threatened species
- Sound knowledge and practical experience of field delivery work
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Experience using power tools such as chainsaws and scrub-bars
- Ability to interpret GIS information, produce maps and use data loggers/GPS units
- Comfortable working in back country, remote locations
- Experience using safety and navigation equipment
- The ability to speak and understand Te Reo
